And here is the second (of three) posts I'm making about the [livejournal.com profile] rs_career_fest.

Honestly, I've been kind of caught up with other fic, and the lily/james fest, hence me being lazy when it comes to these fics. So, only five today, and I'll probably get around to writing about the last five on friday.

The quality of fics doesn't taper off towards the end of this fest - everything seems to just be getting better and better!

(Again, fics with a '*' next to them were absolute favourites)

Four Times a Broom Failed and Once It Didn't by [livejournal.com profile] rhye (Loved this story. It had the nicest mix of drama and humour - the whole exchange between Remus and Sirius in the first section (about Quidditch and brooms) was hilarious. The story revolved around brooms (obviously), and I love the way the author included them in very different ways in each section. The death of the seeker in the middle part carried over nicely to the last section, and even I felt myself cheering when Harry flew! A lovely little fic.)

Entertaining Strangers by [livejournal.com profile] ffodder (Oh my goodness, this fic was absolutely heart-breaking. It wasn't the only Remus!prostitute fic in the fest, but it was the most hard hitting (for me anyway.) Remus' character was honestly very difficult to like (though he grew on me), and I felt so, so sorry for Sirius, who had suffered so much, found his love again, and then had to deal with his (Remus') complete change in character.)

*What Matters Most by [livejournal.com profile] livinglibraries (This story absolutely killed me. The subtle beginnings of something between Remus and Sirius were perfectly done, and the build up was fantastic. And then the ending! My GOD, the ending! WHAT HAPPENED?! Though I love how it was left on a cliffhanger, I honestly sat there for a good five minutes after reading this and thought: "but then what? WHAT HAPPENED TO SIRIUS?" So many questions after finishing this: what did Sirius do to end up in prison? What happened to Remus and Harry after they ran off? Why were they after Harry in the first place? Brililant, brilliant story.)

*These Moonlight Desires by [livejournal.com profile] serenity_ca4 (Ooh, a murder mystery! Goody! I was honestly surprised to see that Sirius was married in this fic, but the relationship between himself and his wife was very well done. I was very caught up in the story, and with who could have murdered the wife. The idea of Sirius kind of being forced into this marriage and raising a son who wasn't actually his was so sad, but again, the relationship he had with his 'wife' was lovely and comforting. I thought this was really well written, and face paced, and oh god, the scene where Sirius turns up in the office in that leather jacket and has that raging argument with his father was brilliant! I also loved the scene where they find the wife's body. I love poor, awkward Remus, and his quick thinking during the confrontation with Lord Black was excellent.)

*Beguiled by [livejournal.com profile] paddynmoon (This is probably my second favourite fic in the fest (after A Recipe in Four Parts, of course ♥). Remus as a private eye is probably my favourite trope EVER, and I love the idea here about the jewellery, and especially Remus' connection (and desperate need) to help the kids. The conversation with the mother after the first attack was lovely. I thought for a little bit that Sirius was going to be the 'bad guy' (EEK). I DID NOT see the ending coming, but it was very well done, and tied into the canon events surrounding Peter's betrayal.)
